I'd like to suggest to avid readers, writers, and poetry lovers, to explore the works of the following three Indigenous poets: US poet laureate, Joy Harjo, Navaho poet laureate, Laura Tohe, and Pulitzer Prize winner, poet, activist, and educator, Natalie Diaz, as well as other Native American, and indigenous poets around the globe. Their work is disctinctive, informative, brave, and most importantly, enlightening.

The Poetry Foundation has curated an excellent list of poets by established writers and new voices, but this list is not exhaustive.

I encourage you to seek out opportunities to read, listen, and attend Native American-centric poetry events. Hear the voice of truth from our indigenous sisters and brothers. Listen to their words, hear their stories, support tribal causes and understand their histories. We are indebted to their sacrifices, the ancestral strength, and spirit. We are reminded of their sacred traditions which can be examples for all who seek to help save our planet, our Mother Earth.

Aho!
